I study "Teacher for Primary School" since 2 years now, and I absolutely agree with this article.
A lot of changes take place at the moment. When you compare the situation nowadays, to 50 years ago, nothing is the same anymore.
Years ago, a teacher was a person, who gloried prestige and importance.
Nowadays, teachers always have to justify themselves, that they are making a good job. If children have problems in school or are not in the mood to go to school, it's always the guilt of teachers.
Furthermore, teachers are often in a difficult situation, when it comes to aggressive behaviour of children. On the one hand, they should admonish the children, but they are not allowed to perform an action, for an example, leave them standing in the edge.
The only way to admonish them is talking to them. A lot of children do not mind, when a teacher is telling them, that they can not act like that....
Is this way right, or is the way to admonish children, by performing actions like clapping a stick on fingers, which was taken 50 years ago, better?
I mean, for sure it's not okay to beat children, but many teachers can not calm children by talking. Should they be allowed to take utilities?
It's hard to decide....
I can say for sure, that when you want to be a teacher nowadays, you have to be a really strong person, who is able and who knows how to work with children!
Education is necessary for everyone. Therefore, just teachers, who can teach children, not only mathematics or languages, but also good behaviour and manners, should be occupied.
That is my opinion!!!

This article is extremely interesting in many ways, although I do not agree with all of it.

It is true that our era is unique. For so many reasons. Our world and our culture have never evolved so fast and so swiftly before. Global warming is the best example of the price we must pay for this fast life we have got used to.
But I do not agree that the present day is based on pessimism. Yes, the past centuries are mostly based on wars and struggle. And we have many problems coming ahead of us. But haven’t we survived every time nonetheless ? I would say the opposite and state that our world, although dark and negative in many ways, is actually based on a dream that we dare to lean towards. Here lies human nature. We want what we do not possess. Once we possess it, we will always want more. But it doesn’t make it pessimistic.

Regarding the teaching-learning process, it is true to say that there are 3 logics. Besides, the first modules of communication established in the early 20th century are very similar to the process described in this article. Shannon said there were 3 parts in all types of communication: the transmitter (teachers), the receiver (students) and the message (subject)... The situations mentioned are indeed problematic. Constructivism can not, not be linked to the past. Past events are the stones of the future. It is impossible for anyone to pretend that he or she isn’t actually basing his or her theory on something that hasn’t already been mentioned. As for constructivism being the last and ultimate theory, if there is one thing that History has taught us, is that we must never say never. It is as I said earlier about having what we do not possess. Once we get it, we’ll go even further. There is no limit to the human mind.
As for the various ways of teaching, it is obvious and natural that all teachers can’t teach in the exact same way. Therefore, it will be impossible for everyone to learn exactly the same subject in the same way. But isn’t that what makes a teacher or a way of teaching original and attractive? Hence the human need to travel and search for new ways of learning...

Queridos amigos:

saludos cordiales.

I agree with the article. I think it is very important that the learning and the learning process are of importance for the students and that they feel that what they learn are something they can use in the future. I think that the education have to go throught some changes to keep up with the development in the sociaty. If the education and school system doesn´t keep up with the development in the sociaty (multimedia for example) it will soon be a place where the learning isn´t meaningful.

I agree with the points being made in this article..these points are universal, not specified to any one location and of interest to any educational system. In order for knowledge to be accumulated and shared from person to person we need an array of knowledge based outputs..the older methods of the teacher being the sole supply of information and knowledge in the educational system has now changed. The knowledge of the student and access to modern technology has widened the experience of learning and has become prevalent in many aspects of the educational system and must be seized. However, in doing so, we have to respect the traditional methods of teaching in which the classroom is the forum of learning and knowledge for both students and teachers in each subject. It is important to use these modern ways of promoting knowledge but not let it take over the communication and interaction between teacher and student about a subject, as this will continue to develop the mind and being of a person..something modern technology could never replace.Change is important in our society, but so is our past..technology is important, but so is the classroom.

I agree with the subject matter being discussed in this article, that knowledge and education, teaching and learning are problematic values. In my opinion the teacher student relationship is constantly adapting to changes which modifies the method of teaching and learning. One such change is the introduction of modern technology. Many classrooms nowadays have projectors, computers or interactive whiteboards that certainly differs from traditional teaching techniques of the past. This has transformed the structure of learning and has given the students themselves more opportunities to experiment and expand their knowledge while getting them actively involved. Another change is that teachers are coming up with new ideas and techniques to help students develop socially, emotionally and personally within the classroom and not only considering the intellectual development.
The learning process is certainly a complex one as many issues need to be considered as outlined in this article. Students have different abilities and ways of learning and I feel teachers have changed their way of teaching to include and teach all students of all abilities. One way in which they have adjusted their way of teaching is through multisensory teaching not solely relying on books and the integration of subjects overlapping and supporting each other. I feel these changes have enhanced the teacher student relationship for the future.

I agree with the point being made in this article that 'Knowledge and education, teaching and learning are problematic values'. I believe that the learning process is a complex one as interaction between the teacher, student, and subject will determine what type of curriculum is taught. Teaching methods and the structure in which the learning takes place have changed immensely from what they used to be.Teachers no longer rely on the old format and traditional aspects of teaching such as books and now look to more interactive ways of enhancing the learning process to make it a more enjoyable experience for both the student and teacher. The introduction to technology such as computers and interactive white boards has helped students both socially and intellectually in developing new skills. In the past constructivism was the only way for students to learn. The teacher was seen as more of a dictator who had a job to do and did not have a relationship with the students. Now days the teacher is socially involved with the students.Teachers give students the opportunity to let their opinions be voiced and heard and in doing so spread knowledge. In any educational setting we have to focus on the learner and not the subject being taught as teaching and learning will always keep changing to adapt to the individual needs of the student.I believe students are given all the tools they need in creating a unique masterpiece of their own. The finished product or out come will be called 'Knowledge'.

I totally agree to this article and I think that the last comment overview the whole problem and way of moving forward: "that mediation must be meaningful and personal".

Yes there are a lot of changes within the education system today and the student wants to be heard and seen and the teacher today is more like a supervisor or a coach. But it´s also really important that the students don´t feel that they have to much pressure on them. The teacher also need to be there to show the meaning of the subject, why the knowledge is important and to show a professional side to manage to be personal with each student thou it sometimes seems impossible.
